With a blessed life to draw upon, I like to weave some of those real-life experiences with the fictional characters I’ve created in order to identify the ways people react to challenges in their lives.

Meet ed

As a product of the Midwest, I grew up with a strong background of hard work, community, patriotism, faith, love and family values. These lessons were taught to me by family, friends and the church in the small town where I lived.

Years ago, I moved my wife and young son to Texas for a better economy and warmer weather.  Living in a different part of the country, these values never left me and have served as a catalyst for any success I have achieved.

During my career, it was always easy for me to write business letters and develop training papers.  My passion for writing however, didn’t happen until I was close to retirement.  On my first trip to Cuba (I’ve made twelve trips), my wife gave me a small spiral notebook.  She wanted me to jot down notes about the trip so I could write a little something for my grandsons.  Back home, these scribbled notes turned into a fifty-page narrative.  The writing came easy.

That first narrative led to another a few trips later and then I wrote three legacy books for the family.  Some years ago, I wanted to write a fiction novel, but quickly found out that I didn’t understand all the rules and nuances of fiction.  Being hooked on the idea of writing fiction, I hired a writing mentor who specialized in fiction writing. Since that time, I’ve been like a sponge to his teaching.

With a blessed life to draw upon, I like to weave some of my real-life experiences with the fictional characters I’ve created in order to identify the ways people react to challenges in their lives.  Whether its challenges or successes, my faith is what holds my life together.  As I’ve gotten older, I’m more aware of my surroundings and the people I call friends.  Now, I tend to develop more friendships with people who are trying to strengthen their faith.

My wife, Karen, and I live in Houston, Texas.  The good Lord blessed me years ago when He picked Karen to be my wife.  Thankfully I didn’t argue with His choice.  With a lot of hard work and His watchful eye, our marriage has survived over 50 years.  Aside from writing, I enjoy golf, traveling and gardening.
